Man, this universal income idea just seems to be gathering steam. Yesterday an announcement about a pilot program in the US, and now this? Is this a way to battle the increasing concentration of wealth? I mean the question here is will people just get lazy? Or will this free them up to do the things they want to do – pursue their passions, more time with their families, etc – while automation and 3d printing and futurist technologies more and more start taking care of the stuff they don’t want to do? Will this actually lessen the load on state sponsored services by giving people the resources to take responsibility for some of those services themselves? Will this make us a lazier society? More Netflix n’ chill? Or will this make us a more conscious, present, and creative society? The space to pay attention to the things that matter? I suppose as with everything else, there’s going to be people to fall on all sides of the fence, maybe that’s part of evolution? Regardless, should be an interesting decade on the way…
