“Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston city council approved a lease of 240 acres of city-owned land in the Sunnyside area to a Wolfe Energy subsidairy.
The Sunnyside property, which was once a landfill, will soon be transformed into the largest urban solar farm in the country. The area was considered an eye sore in the Houston community, as the landfill had been vacant for over half a century.
“The project proposes to not only revitalize an underutilized piece of property that has been an eyesore to the community for years, but could also make Sunnyside a more complete, sustainable and resilient community,” Mayor Sylvester Turner said…”
