Here Are All the Companies Buying Tesla’s Electric Semi Truck
“The electric trucks have impressive features, including a 500-mile range per charge and the ability to travel 400 miles on a 30-minute charge, impact resistant glass, an innovative cabin design, and the ability to go from 0-60 mph in five seconds without any cargo and in 20 seconds while carrying 80,000 pounds of cargo. But Tesla will ultimately be judged on the number of clients who buy and use the trucks over the long term.
These are the companies who have placed orders for the Tesla Semi so far:
Walmart: One of the first major companies to reserve the trucks, the retailer has made aggressive investments in technology in recent years as part of its effort to compete with Amazon.Pepsi: Pepsi previously had the largest Semi order, reserving 100 trucks in December.Anheuser-Busch: The brewer announced it ordered 40 Semis in December.Sysco: The food distributor has reserved 50 Semis.UPS: The delivery company placed the largest Semi order to date, reserving 125 trucks on Tuesday…”

If it takes 2 years to get a car, I wonder how long it’ll take to deliver all these semi’s
Bill Iguess they begin delivering in 2019. patience is a key part of innovation.
If Tesla says 2019, in reality that means 2023
Bill Iguess They said 2017 for Model 3. They’ve been delivering for 4 months, but you go on and keep hating since that seems to be your modus operandi…you are their motivation.
nice
Wasim Muklashy it seems my motivation just isn’t enough to make them do what they say they will do jalopnik.com – Tesla Makes ‘Major Progress’ Addressing Model 3 Issues But Pushes Back Production Target Again
Bill Iguess You’re right. They’re completely worthless and are doing absolutely nothing to contribute to society. They, as a completely new automobile company creating an entirely new market against all odds, should work harder to meet your personal expectations. That, after all, is what life is all about…YOUR expectations. Have fun with that one sir curmudgeon. In the meantime, I’ll throw a fit that my reserved Model 3 will show up in August instead of June.
Wasim Muklashy what exactly has Tesla done for society?
Bill Iguess
Haha. Please tell me you’re kidding? You mean other than single-handedly transforming the automobile industry during a time when all automobile companies, save for Ford, died in their tracks and were begging for a public bailout?
Ok, well let’s see.
Tesla created a viable model for the mass-production of electric vehicles to ween us off the fossil fuel tit, whilst simultaneously designing and creating a charging network for these very vehicles that stretches across the country. In their wake, EVERY major automobile manufacturer has decided to go electric and are now investing in the infrastructure because Tesla proved not only is it viable, but that it’s the future. Because of them, Volvo is all in (https://goo.gl/9iVkRB). VW is half in (https://goo.gl/MVBsqy). Jaguar and Land Rover are all in (https://goo.gl/s8H5z1). Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault are half in (https://goo.gl/fDwCGf). Ford is half in (https://goo.gl/KRQsQT). China is completely in (https://goo.gl/f4gYYf). India is completely in (https://goo.gl/dRaCB9). Hell, even GM IS ALL IN (https://goo.gl/fuikKG).
Furthermore, Tesla alone has installing an additional 7000 superchargers in 2017 to add to the already 7000 around the country. I don’t remember the last parking garage I went to that doesn’t have an electric charger in it, and all new buildings in many of the country’s biggest cities are already mandating those for new constructions. That’s a whole new industry and economy that’s about to break wide open. With 1 Gigafactory almost completed and two more already breaking ground, our two choices are, roll with it, or get left in the dust. On top of all that, he has restored power to Puerto Rico after the hurricane, and has built the most reliable backup system in South Australia that has already proven it’s worth just last month.
All this in less than 10 years.
So yeah, what else you got Sir Curmudgeon? Bring it.
Wasim Muklashy first I’d just like to say thank you for editing out the unnecessary personal attacks and belligerence. Next I agree it’s very impressive, the company and money Elon Musk has built and made, respectively. I would have to disagree with the illusion that somehow Tesla is going to save the world. It seems to me we are turning from one non renewable energy in fossil fuels to another in Cobalt and lithium. But hey as long as we can’t see the child labor being used to mine Cobalt and as long as we can’t see the insane amounts of water having to be transported and used in some of the dryest parts of South America to process lithium that has been strip mined all the while those children in the DRC are dying of thirst and severe malnutrition, but hey as long as you have your batteries for your world saving Tesla Model 3, that’s all that matters. Wow, now that I type it, its incredibly ironic.
Bill Iguess Ok dude. You win.
You said bring it and then you give up one comment later. Fanboy bias is shining
Bill Iguess Look dude, I’m not going to waste my time on someone who’s going to try to convince me that cobalt and lithium are as harmful to our planet as fossil fuels are and have been. You seem to be of the mindset that unless its a utopian perfect solution, then its not progress, and that’s the kind of mindset that is pointless to try to hold a discussion with.
Things move from one step to the next.
That’s how progress works.
Including synthesizing those materials in a lab, which they’ve already been working on, not to mention their experimentation with sodium-ion and graphene for the future.
Furthermore, there are already experiments with using the blockchain to track the sources of materials to ensure they’re coming from ethical practicing sources. Theyve begun doing this for blood diamonds just last year (https://goo.gl/tuprHv), but you seem to be the type that’ll find something to bitch about there too, so why would I continue to engage with that cycle?
And yes, I’m a fan boy of people that are actually doing things to find solutions for things instead of whining about things.
Unapologetically.
Shining brightly and colorfully.
That’s precisely why I posted this in my collection.
