Urban farming will bring food to city-dwellers that need it most
“The planet is growing more food than ever, and yet millions of people continue to starve worldwide. People are hungry everywhere — in the country, in the suburbs. But increasingly, one of the front lines in the war against hunger is in cities. As urban populations grow, more people find themselves in food deserts, areas with “[l]imited access to supermarkets, supercenters, grocery stores, or other sources of healthy and affordable food,” according to a report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
New technologies are changing the equation, allowing people to grow food in places where it was previously difficult or impossible, and in quantities akin to traditional farms.
Urban farms can be as simple as traditional small outdoor community gardens, or as complex as indoor vertical farms in which farmers think about growing space in three-dimensional terms…”

This is for the developed countries but we await help for us that found ourselves in the continent where people’s lives worth less than a dime.
I love reading post that educate but lacking capacity to try them here in Africa. I found myself at the wrong side of the earth
Ajegbile Bolaji Oh no doubt, but rest assured, they’re developing them for urban and rural areas in less than developed countries as well. Furthermore, it’s places like India, Africa, and South and Central America that are leading the charge in using sustainable sources of energy to power such projects. They may start in what you call developed countries, but the more they grow in those areas, the cheaper they become, the more feasible it is to make them at scale in areas that need them as well. You have a BIG advantage in that there is less red tape to get such projects off the ground, making it easier and more nimble to experiment with technologies like this. People in ‘developed’ nations tend to be much more stuck in their ways and have a very hard time adapting to change or innovation. In areas where it’s a necessity, rather than a luxury, people are more willing to employ such methods and technologies with much less pushback, especially from big industry.
