“Economics Nobel Prize” Winners are Advocating for Universal Basic Income
“Up until very recently, most people had not heard of universal basic income (UBI). While the idea itself isn’t entirely new, its significance has been explored lately because of job displacement fears intelligent automation is expected to bring with it. As such, UBI has been endorsed by experts from various industries, including some of the Silicon Valley’s bigwigs. Now, some of the world’s top economists are backing it up, too…”

have not found any model yet, but it does not solve within Economics alone
The most interesting proposal I’ve heard to date is a Resource Based Economy. In a nutshell it is a fully cooperative society which maximises technology and the efficient use of resources for the benefit of all. The goal of such a society would be to bring down the cost of everything to zero, essentially become a cashless society.
The development of AI and robotics has certainly been picking up the last few years. I have no doubt that there will be some kinda of major societal shift in the next few decades due to the major impact of new technology. We’ll have to adapt to a changing world one way or another.
This video gives a brief overview : youtube.com – Introduction to a Resource Based Economy
Unlikely to fly in the USA,most people are used to a merit based economy, with people working for fulfillment and gain, this is a utopian dream and smacks of welfare and unrewarded efforts to better one’s self
kevin koffel Nonsense. You’re defining ‘merit’ by busting your balls for another company or corporation hoping to make enough to support your family, at the expense of cultivating family and personal relationships and time to pursue true passions, which is what leads to creativity and innovation and progress. With UBI, you tax the companors that use robots and automation to replace humans (as Bill Gates & Elon Musk propose), and you replace the current welfare system and save billions because of the waste there (https://futurism.com/new-report-claims-ubi-would-grow-the-u-s-economy-by-2-5-trillion/), merit would be defined by pursuing hobbies and passions that can lead to starting new businesses, or getting paid for cultivating urban farms and other projects to boost communities, or getting paid for spending quality time with your children and raising your families, or all of the things that we could be doing to advance society, but have no time or funds for. The paradigm is shifting as to what is considered work, and as the robots and automation take over more and more of that, we better catch up, or, well, you can kiss your old-fashioned, self-serving, pride-based ‘merits’ goodbye. I think you should research UBI before making any presumed assumptions.
