“An injection of nanoparticles can prevent the body’s immune system from overreacting to trauma, which could potentially prevent paralysis following a spinal cord injury, according to a new study.
As demonstrated with mice, the nanoparticles reprogram the aggressive immune cells to enhance healing. Researchers call it an “EpiPen” for trauma to the central nervous system, which includes the brain and spinal cord.
