People in Two U.S. States Will Get $1,000 a Month in a New Basic Income Trial
“Startup incubator Y Combinator is expanding their research into the benefits of universal basic income (UBI).
In a new blog post published on the company’s website this week, they reveal their plans to pick 3,000 individuals from two states at random to receive a monthly cash handout. 1,000 participants will receive $1,000 per month for a period up to five years, while the other 2,000 will receive $50 per month, serving as the control group…”

Michael Poindexter It IS the expected outcome of Capitalism, if everything is produced by autonomous mass factories… only personal services remain and income has to be assigned some way. Here, Socialism would be obviating the technology-production affair as solved ex ante. Somewhere there s an optimum population level to solve land markets though, for BOTH. … … …
the keyword is: sufficient it must pay rent individually at least or it is not basic but public.
Michael Poindexter you need to research UBI before you simply spew your tired generational dinosaur nonsense pride driven rhetoric. Automation is on pace to take over 40% of our jobs in less than 10 years. Then what genius? And if you call spending that extra time building communities, taking care of family, volunterring to needed causes and pursuing hobbies to start new businesses as a moochers class, well, ironically, you’re calling yourself a non-contributing member of society. Or a robot that just follows someone else’s orders. Because those are the things that build a society, not putting screws into something or whatever you consider a ‘real job’ to make somebody else rich. So once again, research what you’re talking about before assuming you know what you’re talking about, because in this case, you don’t. By calling UBI supporters Moochers, you’re calling Bill Gates a moocher you’re calling Elon Musk a moocher you’re calling Mark Zuckerberg a moocher and you’re calling just about every executive that has built a company in the internet age a moocher. In case you havent noticed, times change. And it’s not going to wait for you to catch up. So if I were you I would wake the fuck up instead of gets stuck in a bygone era because if that’s the route you choose, evolution will take care you. Otherwise, well, that’s your reckoning. Not that of those that choose to adapt instead of die. And I hate to say it, but well, you will not be missed by adaptation, innovation, and future technology.
Michael Poindexter so then explain it to me.

Michael Poindexter but im going to guess you won’t read a single one of those since, well, you already know it all.
And by the way, the robots will soon build themselves and repair themselves. But I suppose you knew that too…

Michael Poindexter What else you got dinosaur? Bring it!
What a stupid “Experiment”.. and what will they learn from it? – That the people receiving $1000 a month will have a better quality of life than those receiving $50 a month.. Shocker! You don`t need divisive “trials” like this to evaluate social policies, just a brain between your ears.
Nick Wright Great…another one that hasn’t read the post, has done no research on UBI, and decides to use whatever opportunity he has as a personal soapbox. If you’re going to comment in my collection, be informed before your pride takes the stage please. Otherwise, I will block you.
Michael Poindexter Yet again, you post opinion and rhetoric based none on facts or figures or sources you can cite. This after I post a string of sources from both conservative, centrist, and leftist citations. NO one cares that you’ve been ‘earning your own money since you were 12’ but you. and I understand handing out money to able-bodied people, but you’re simplifying what the correlations between automation, the futrue of work, and universal basic income to a paradigm you understand as welfare. This is not that. Do you research before the meaningless propagandist ‘socialist crap’ comments and perhaps I’ll take you seriously, but until you source facts and figures and the science and research behind it, your words mean absolutely nothing to me. Nothing. Because you are not an expert. The ones doing the research are the experts. You are simply a commoner who chooses which bits and pieces they want to fit into their narrative. The experts and scientists are the ones doing the quantatitive research. Math means everything to me. Some random pride-filled internet’s troll with a political agenda’s opinions – well, mean nothing to me, and they mean nothing to science.
Furthermore, if people use my collection to spit rhetoric without backing anything up with any sources, citations, or facts, then I will absolutely and unapologetically block them, for there is nothing there that is contributing to anything meaningful. It’s just another soapbox for personal pride-filled nonsense. Cite sources, give me facts, give me figures, and have a meaningful conversation with putting down someone else’s ideas, then you’re welcome. Be disrespectful, absolutely not welcome. There are plenty of collections and groups that will be happy to cater to that echo-chamber fuckery. This is not one of them.
