These drones can plant 100,000 trees a day
“It’s simple maths. We are chopping down about 15 billion trees a year and planting about 9 billion. So there’s a net loss of 6 billion trees a year.
Hand planting trees is slow and expensive. To keep pace with the tractors and bulldozers clearing vast areas of land, we need an industrial-scale solution.
For example, a drone that can plant up to 100,000 trees a day…”

Are you talking actual saplings, or are you talking about seedlings/seeds?
Because if it is just seeds, then you gotta take into consideration that even with replanting, we’ll be lucky if half make it to 20yrs. Many will likely die just from competition with the other nearby plants/trees.
Also, while replanting the trees cut down and/or killed via land clearing is indeed a good & noble pursuit, you have to consider that trees don’t grow in a vacuum.
They have many other plants/fungi/microbes/lifeforms that are needed to truly equalize the “simple maths” that the net loss figure glosses over.

Still, Cool Beans! Now only if they ran on solar power.
Edit: hmm… Read the article. I’m thinking about an article on Tv Tropes titled, “Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics!” Methinks that the 60 drone’s successfully planting 6-billion trees in a given year, seems to be overly optimistic.
Still, nice to learn about the other team doing similar things with drones.
??
If it helps our world, why can it endanger our world? Isis is buying our drones and packing them with dynamite and sending them over our troops to explode and kill them.
