Researchers Have Linked a Human Brain to the Internet for the First Time Ever
“Researchers from Wits University have linked a brain directly to the internet. Data gathered from this project could help fuel the next steps in machine learning and brain-computer interfaces.
A team of researchers at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa have made a major breakthrough in the field of biomedical engineering. According to a release published on Medical Express, for the first time ever, researchers have devised a way of connecting the human brain to the internet in real time. It’s been dubbed the “Brainternet” project, and it essentially turns the brain “…into an Internet of Things (IoT) node on the World Wide Web.”…”

I would be a tester for that.

I wonder what security they used? Can hackers take over your brain?
That not a good idea we need to keep a level of separation from tech or we will have lost everything…. But if you think it’s good that’s your opinion…
I would be tester

There is serious danger in allowing the internet think for us. Nobody wants to address this. Our children are in trouble
Kristy Schultz Our children will likely be better off than we could ever imagine.

Now I don’t have to tap the spin button to play slots on my phone….what a world we live in…lmao
Congratulations
Brain surgery- “It’s risky but I’m ok with it.”
(Removes half of the brain)
“Still ok with it.”
AI- “Stupid AIs are taking our jobs. The end is near!!!”
So we’re fine with surgery that involves tampering with the thing that makes us us but as far as making (barely) a brain, that’s where we draw the line… wtf???
We are far from using this in a practical way but can we please start working on some hypothetical laws for this kind of stuff?
Hw is that not risky
Hiiii
That’s amazing. Technology has advanced so much, so quickly. With this, we may be able to get closer to understanding how the brain works enough to even see memories!
This technology can actually communicate with a BRAIN.
Just think about that for a minute. We don’t even really know how the brain works honestly. And now we’re here. This is a beautiful thing and I’ll gladly be a tester.
Hi fi
Wow still can’t believe this
Very good
mulinda georgewilliam hmmn
Nigel Maggie hello how are you doing dear?
Neo DooM yeah I think you are right
WIlliam Main that not possible
Jack Winemiller True, but if that’s what you use it for, you will have evolution to reckon with.
>Researchers have linked a human brain to the internet
>Still no finding cure for all type of cancers
Niall you right, lots of it.

Transhumanism and my many many many concerns about it! I am sure, Ray Kurzweil and Co. are having a party right now. But in the society of today, with all its unsolved problems, this step comes too early. The ressources of scientific research aren’t being dispersed in a fair enough way to justify realizing this dream of the few on the costs of the suffering of the many, already…
Kristy Schultz this literally is just reading electrical output from the brain and sharing it to the internet. It’s like a live stream of someone flexing their biceps.
Whoever wrote this article should be slapped for sensationalizing things. It’s not even the first time we’ve done this.
Sophia Heimskur I get caught up too. It’s important for all to remember that online media now, is about simple clicks. The amount of times a story lives up to its click bait headline is rare indeed…
Chris Toph Yeah, I see it the other way around. Tranditionallhy, it’s the few that have had the power of information at their disposal. That paradigm is shifting. Now it’s the many that are beginning to have that power at their disposal. And as the world becomes more connected, all those that have have never had a voice, will have a direct pathway and influnce on those that have. In the billions. When a kid in rural India can learn physics and apply that knowledge immediately…I see good, not bad. When everyone begins to realize we’re all connected, I see more nurturing than backstabbing, for you’d only be backstabbing yourself. One mind…one love.
johnnypk1963 Only to us priveleged people. But to those in rural areas that suddenly have an opportunity and knowledge and education, that’s a different story altogether. We’re spoiled. We have no idea what it takes to take care of basic necessitites without the luxuries to do so. They do. And that’s knowledge that, for we as a human species, is vital to our survival. The knowledge of those that truly know how to survive…
Scary
Wasim Muklashy Huh? I don’t get your point. Why would u assume ppl in rural areas lack opportunities or knowledge or an education? My grandparents grew up on a farm in western MD, they lacked NONE of those things.
johnnypk1963 You should probably not project your personal biases if you want a subjective understanding of my point. My point is, 2 years ago, I worked in Sri Lanka in rural areas. They did not have access to education or information that we have in more connected cities and developed countries. Now, just 2 years later, they are getting more access to that information and knowledge and education. Regarding your grandparents in MD, fine. But what they DID lack was the breadth and depth of information that now exists on a global scale. It takes me a few seconds to send you videos, links, studies, you name it. When your grandparents were going to college in rural MD, can you tell me it was just as easy to disseminate information as it is today? Did they have as large a variety of sources to draw upon? Even FURTHERMORE, my point also states that people like your grandparents, who have that knowledge of on the ground survival, would be of great value to those in cities who would not know what to do if they went to their local supermarket one day and there was no food. So, I recommend you analyzing people’s points and comments before simply reacting next time
Wasim Muklashy So what’s my personal bias?
johnnypk1963 An affinity for trolling
johnnypk1963 And picking and choosing what parts to respond to while ignoring the points made
Wasim Muklashy Or some like yourself can’t take or understand someone that has a different point of view and is willing to ask a simple question. W/o u getting all triggered.
johnnypk1963 Ok
I no God will do it
