Elon Musk: Automation Will Force Governments to Introduce Universal Basic Income
“Recently, Elon Musk had the chance to share his thoughts on universal basic income (UBI) at the World Government Summit in Dubai. At the Summit, Musk had the opportunity to talk about the future, and the challenges the world will face in the next hundred years – including artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and the job displacement expected to come with it…”

]]>UBI reminds me a century old communist ideas. Unfortunately, those were proven as not working long enough to keep society progress.
]]>Nikolai Varankine well you sound like a person who would understand something about market mechanisms like supply and demand. How do you propose the market will work as the market price of human falls decade after decade towards zero as we see the beginning of now. How will the economy function when total wages payed to human workers are at 60, 40, 20 or even 5 percent of current levels. Do you seriously think the management of a company compeeting with other companies will insist om paying high wages to employees when robots and algorithms can perform the same work or better for a fraction of the cost? I sure wouldnt invest in such a company.
]]>Jan-Erik Vinje , I share your concerns but UBI doesn’t impress me. I’m pretty sure it won’t work in practice. Another solution is possibly needed. BTW, when computerized equipment not so long ago came into hardware industry, it gave a rise to demand of specialized programmers and high skilled machine servicemen. For the robots (AI, etc.) systems I expect such a rise of machine teachers. For a significant time, robots won’t work on its own.
]]>Does this means we cant afford a electric car…….
]]>Filinto Rodrigues well it’s not exactly a great business move for the CEO of an electric car company to propose a system in which no one can afford his products…so no, I don’t think that’s what it means, as a matter of fact, it would make it easier for more of us to be able to afford electric cars.
]]>Well UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME for all if full Automation Simulations where
made could give you money to buy
the latest more cheap TESLA electric car and if TESLA products are good you
could travel the world recharging
on supposed TESLA stations spread all over but for this you will need more
money for the electricity that is not very cheap
because maintaining these stations costs money too…..if i where you i
sticked with a toyota hybrid who
maybe costs much less goes much farder and its on electricity and gasoline.
