Elon Musk’s idea for powering the entire U.S. with solar energy holds a lot of water
“Recently, Musk offered his take on powering the entire United States with solar power, and the more his suggestion is analyzed, the more sense it makes. Essentially, he proposes that the whole country could be powered by “a little corner of Nevada or Utah” and that, if government leaders cooperated and invested in infrastructure, it could happen in as little as 15 years…”

Love Elon. ?
every roof can collect solar power and water that can be stored ……….for free
then, cadmium and iron is in high demand to make solar panels, also, lithium and polonium to make batteries and ya. tesla coils with 10km range.
Been waiting since 2011 for my Green card so I can spend my $$$$$$$$$ on solar panels in the US as I keep being told NO to solar by the UK Gov on my own land in Dorset, UK !
Well. I think the uk government wants to control oil. Richard Maunder. Why do you always listen to the government. They are not always right.
Too many “ifs” in Musk’s concepts, they’re always contingent on someone else’s actions, and finance.
And yea. Both uk and usa government is responsible for biological viruses outbreaks. Maybe i should have just let the year 2012 asteroid with 5 billion nuke capability hit earth and maybe, i should not have reincarnated down from the sun. Richard Maunder they got posessed by satan and they don’t even know.
With the mayan calendar destroyed. The common enemy satan is outside of earth now.

What message are you trying to convey – your comments a bit too criptic to follow…
Haha. Well. You guys should be happy that war is over, and that the good people are coming back. Mike US OG K
Mike US OG K in short. Evil was caused by satan.
Lim An Rui
Much better, thank you.
Lim An Rui That’s why I am trying to move to the US as they have said YES to me spending my $$$$$$$$$ on solar when the UK has said NO but I have been waiting since 2011 for my Green card as the US Gov does not like people from the UK much !
The price for buying and installing solar has fallen dramatically everywhere.
James F and there you have it …..free is a dirty word to them
It could be built in five years if we concentrated on it. It would also employ a lot of people.
This is old news. Elon is just another Steve Jobs, taking other people’s ideas and repackaging them so that Joe average thinks its desireable. Don’t get me wrong, it is true, but it bugs me that people think Musk is a genius while those that actually come up with these ideas are forgotten.
As for freedom to do what you want in the States, sorry no. People there are being forced onto the grid as well. That freedom exists within any monetary economy is a mass delusion.
James F Why label yourself and others? We are ALL human.
Edwin Laarz As far as being forced on to the grid, it depends on the State. And Musk Is stealing the idea’s of other’s? Like building rockets? Or the Hyperloop or viable Electric car’s. Explain.
John Bailey Not stealing the ideas as much as getting credit for the ideas. The idea of hyperloop didn’t seem to exist prior to 2014, however I was first exposed to the idea watching Zeitgeist in 2011.
Viable electric cars have been around for over a century, but it has been a niche market because it required knowledge that most people do not have. And the Powerwall also has competitors, do your own search.
Blue Origin and Arianespace are two that pop up in a quick google search, and Origin landed rockets before Space X. It isn’t that what he is doing is wrong, it is just that he gets so much media attention doing things that have already been done.
James F Your whole response is about “othering” people. At the core of all of us is one undeniable truth, we are all doing the best we can with what we have. Even the so called terrorists are doing what they do because it is all they know how to do to survive (a little simplified but overall accurate). But if everyone was to be given an equal share of the worlds resources, you know the whole “we are ALL born equal idea”, then there would be no need for the labels.
Placing people into niches is an easy way to polarize people who do not want to ask “why” enough, and thereby gain control over those people. People don’t want to ask why terrorists do what they do, they just want to hate them because it is easier. I find it more appealing to know why a person does something, reason out the pros and cons of their behaviour for myself, and either help them see a better way to do things for themselves or change my behaviour to take advantage of my newfound knowledge; the infer by label way of doing things is an easy way to allow labels to think for you.
Edwin Laarz When I spoke of viable Electric car’s, I intended that to include successfully developed, marketed, desirable, capable of performance with a charging infrastructure, and in demand. So which of the other electric car’s in the past 100 year’s compare? The power wall is being marketed successfully all over the world. Solar city has attractive “roof tile” a cells. You are selling Musk short. He develop’s a complete package. A clever idea, is just that, unless it is a developed into a workable , desirable product.
John Bailey And that is all he does, marketing. he gets credit for coming up with new ideas (which he hasn’t) when all he has done is market it. EXACTLY what Steve Jobs did. We currently live in a world where the ability to market something is of FAR greater importance than the actual something which is being marketed, is this something that you believe should be encouraged or do you like the idea that marketing is the most important thing to human life?
Better said than done
Charles Somseb Would love an explanation to that comment. Why so?
Edwin Laarz For something to be successful in our world, it has to satisfy the criteria I mentioned. Doing so, is no small thing. Would you buy a half baked Electric car? Would you buy an untested idea? The world has plenty of dreamers. A man that can make an idea, or a dream real , is a rarity. Whether it is Jobs or Musk. Jobs did that in one field. Musk has done it in many. He is pushing us into the future, not merely dreaming of it. Or wishing for it.
The scale is just to big, but he might be able to if he has the right and necessary things money, man power, infrastructure n all
Doing my part with solar. Grid tie system producing more than I need and pushing out onto grid.
