It may work but I would guess that would bring an end to The Benefits system. The main question would be how would it be paid and how would we pay tax on it?
Yes and keep it if they get some paid work. And a bit extra if they do voluntary work
Also a bit extra if longterm sick or disabled or terminal
And get rid of the benefit system. And taxes come out before people get it or from the paid work. I have been on both sides of the system and it no good for the clients or the workers on the other side of desk. I am sure it would lead to less stress
Sorrý for any mistakes. Ihave just had a stroke
There is little work already and there is mainly part time and low paid work which is not enough to live on. Old people can afford to do lowpaid work if it is a top up to pensions and keeps them going.
Raw
Yes. If things were more expensive because of taxes then it would be down to individuals where they spent their money or not. Anď the cost of collecting would be spread between everyone.
Lol north Korea did that for a good bit as well xD
That’s interesting
Kevin Wood You would have to tax the producer’s of income. The companies that own the automated factories. They will agree to it, because they require consumer’s to buy their goods and service’s. That is how money circulates. If the consumers have no income, they can’t consume.
Michael Nugent They also ate food and flushed toilets. I think some of them might have even taken jogs and bought clothes from time to time, so I’m not quite sure what you were trying to say with your comment. Care to explain?
Wasim Muklashy around the time they stopped, over 3 million people starved to death. I sure do think they went out for jogs, spent money they didn’t have on clothes, and maybe even owned animals! What I’m trying to say was most people didn’t have much even if the government gave out an income because the government itself no long cares about its citizens.
Michael Nugent Thank you for that. I appreciate comments with substance.
Wasim Muklashy no problem 🙂 have a good night ^-^
I would love to see this happen but unfortunately greed won’t allow it. It creates a scarcity mindset and once that takes root forget it.
It sets a dangerous precedent. A good government with proper intentions is ok. But in the hands of a corrupt power it would lend to a dependency of the state and that is a very bad thing. As the state would then control those dependent people to do its bidding. We should encourage and reward kindness in society instead. Basic income is a sticky plaster on an absess.
I still think it a good idea. And a reward for going extra such as doing things in the community is good and proper wage after a period of doing extra in the community.
I live in northern Ontario Canada, where discussion of how to launch a similar initiative has been underway for about a year now. Recently I was invited to join a poverty reduction committee that operates locally and is trying to bring the pilot for the project to my region. This would be the first working model of its kind in North America and could be then taken and remodeled to suit other communities within Canada, the United States and maybe even other countries as well.. By nature this work should be created with ideas collected from the community and as such if you have questions or suggestions please reach me at joshuajlmarr@gmail.com
thank you – one love
ciao
