V nice
What is it with scam/silly eco projects these days. Solar roadways, dome shaped solar panels, a supposedly useful wild turbine shaped like a tree that would struggle to power your microwave. We already have good renewable designs – high effeciency solar, Night/Ground UV solar, tidal, geomthermal, wind turbines, high altitude wind turbines, dams etc etc. We don’t need to slap a solar panel on a bulldog, or make a tidal generator shaped like a coral reef. Its for energy.
Jamie Karl perhaps it’s an attempt to introduce these technologies or make them interesting to people outside of our own echo chamber, people in the arts, design worlds, or simply to people that enjoy aesthetics and colorful thinking. I respect your view, but personally, I’m not hating on anyone that’s working to bring attention to renewables in whatever way tickels their fancy.
and if these ineffecient ideas take funding from more effecient ideas, as with the solar roadways where people are basically ripping of govts? An idea that cost some us town $300,000 for disco floor that generated zero energy and broke after a few days? and how many dollars will be spent of taxpayers money on the above, with its 20,000 dollars per kwp and 26 turbines to repair and maintain? thats literally insane next to a regular turbine, or small solar array which is what govts should invest in. people are being duped.
it says in the article its for selling to town developers ie local town councils. its not an awareness raising project. 67,000 usd a peice btw

Jamie Karl i kindly ask you to please leave the political discourse out of this collection. we’ve had enough of that the past several months.
Wasim Muklashy Okay, but its a political article – its 70,000 dollar bondongles being sold to local govts. Its like the light rail episode of the simpsons.. . I hear you though, I’ll unsub, and raise my skepticism elsewhere 🙂 Have a nice evening, wasim and enjoy 🙂
Jamie Karl Thanks. I appreciate it.
